To save you time and make sure you have the right information, below are a number of questions we get asked most by customer wanting to use our plumbing and heating services
Are you a fully qualified plumber, and do you have insurance should things go wrong?
The answer to this two-part question is Yes and Yes. This is the first question you should ask any tradesman who is potentially going to work on your home. You need to know that they are competent and hold the right qualifications, ensuring they are up to date with the most recent regulations. And as there's always a chance something could go wrong, no matter how careful or qualified you are, it's essential to know that you won't be left with a massive bill if things go wrong.
Can you provide references?
We'll happily supply anyone who asks with references from previous customers. We'd also point to Google and checkatrade.com for other reviews of our work written by customers.
Does my heating system need a power flush?
If we install a new boiler, it is worth having your system power flushed. Suppose your system is old, and we are replacing just the boiler. In that case, a significant build-up of sludge and pipe rust may cause problems with new condensing boilers. By using high-velocity water at low pressures, a power flush will clean your system thoroughly without compromising it, leaving you to feel the benefits.
Do you offer an emergency plumbing and heating callout service?
Yes, we do offer an emergency callout service. Firstly, if we have installed a central heating, a gas boiler or done any plumbing and heating work on your home, we should be your first call. Whether it is in or out of the warranty we supplied, we will do our best to get to you as quickly as possible. We also promise never to leave anyone who calls with a genuine plumbing or heating emergency. Still, we ask anyone to use common sense before calling us. Is it a genuine emergency? If it's in the middle of the night, ask yourself if this can be sorted in the morning by turning off the mains water supply. The callout will be much cheaper for you. We'd also remind you that we are based in Rayleigh. If we're travelling 40 minutes to get to you, not only might the delay make things worse, but our emergency callout fee might mean it is cheaper to find someone closer. However, you can rely on us to solve your plumbing emergency if you need us.
A friend told me that all new boilers need to be registered. Is this true?
Yes, it is the Law that every new gas boiler installation needs to be "notified" to Gas Safe. We, Thomas Edward, will do this on your behalf. In due course, Gas Safe will notify you that this has been registered. Your boiler must also be registered with the manufacturer to activate its Warranty/Guarantee. This is something we will sort out for all of customers. The documents will arrive sometime later, should be stored somewhere safe for future reference.
Do we need to get our new boiler serviced?
Yes, your new needs to be serviced every 12 months. Often overlooked, servicing your boiler will mean your boiler is working at optimum levels, keeping your bills lower and prolonging the life expectancy of your boiler. It may also stipulate in your manufacturer's warranty/guarantee that you keep the gas boiler serviced during the duration of the agreement. As a business, we will happily arrange a yearly service when we install your new boiler, so your warranty is maintained.
